====== BT ToGo ====== Known to the rest of the English speaking world as the [[http://www.productsandservices.bt.com/consumerProducts/displayTopic.do?topicId=24561&s_cid=con_FURL_broadbandanywhere|HTC S620]], this is a Windows Mobile smart phone running Windows Mobile Standard 6.1. The most recent version of BT's software had a fault on mine, where the device manager application constantly accessed GPRS for over a month. BT refunded the usage but I urge you to check your usage. It supports WiFi and VoIP, making it quite a handy device to carry and although the keyboard is small its predictive text makes up for it. However, the default configuration from BT is atrocious. There's a lot of pre-installed flotsam that slows boot time and drains battery (bad thread usage). BT have also (to the best of my knowledge because they rarely respond to help requests, I have two open calls awaiting second line support that I opened at the end of October and its now November 19th) never worked around the bug that a number of phones fail to complete the configuration utility. ===== Configuration fails at stage 3 of 4 ===== This appears to be a badly loaded software upgrade and is rectified by a factory reset. This removes BT cruft as well. Turn the unit off and then press and hold the two soft keys, continue to hold them and press the power on key for a count of three then release the power key. At this point you'll get a boot screen with white text on a black background. Follow the instructions to reinstall. If you don't get this screen, you held the power button too long. I don't know why this is so difficult to get the timing on but I assure you it does work, it just requires the correct timing. ===== BT Software ===== The BT software can be re-installed by running the update from [[http://btsupport.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/btsupport.cfg/php/enduser/cci/bt_adp.php?p_sid=VrA67ijj&p_faqid=10901&cat_lvl1=1804&p_cv=1.1804&p_cats=1804|BT]] with the phone connected via USB in Windows, with ActiveSync running. I don't know if this can be done under Linux as easily. You can use 7zip or such to extract it and manually copy and install the CAB files.
